Product Review: Nature Republic California Aloe Vera Cleansing Tissue

IMG_5550

A few weeks ago, I was looking for the Nature Republic 92% Aloe Vera Gel in their SM Mall of Asia store, sadly, they were out of stock and all they had was this cleansing tissue. Since it was on sale, (I couldn’t remember exactly, buy 1 take 1 for 399PHP or 499PHP, I think? Anyway, if you have been following my blog, you’ll notice that I hardly mention prices because I’m bad at remembering them! Haha) I decided to buy it. After all, I really didn’t have an on-the-go Cleansing Tissue at home but I always find myself looking for one every now and then, so I thought buying this will be a good investment for me.

Surely, since I have just recently started using makeup on a daily basis, this became so useful for me. I use it immediately when I get home to wipe off the makeup on my face before I proceed using the cleansing balm.

The thing about this is that when you pull one tissue, it has the tendency to pull out one or two more, so I always end up stuffing the extra tissue back inside if less than half of it has been pulled out. If not, I’ll just have to use both tissues. I just recently discovered that I have to hold down the area around the opening when I pull out a tissue so that it won’t release more than one tissue. To be honest, I find it quite tedious.

However, that is not the main purpose of the cleansing wipes. So in this post I’m going to show you guys how well does it actually remove makeup.

So here are a few cosmetics from Clinique and Covergirl. I’ve had them for quite some time now but I rarely used them because I used to be a no makeup person.

I just swatched them on my forearm–prior to that I put BB cream on it. Also, the very dark red swatch there is from Colourpop.

So here’s how the actual cleansing wipe looks like. I put it against a darker background so it can be more visible. As you can see, it isn’t dripping wet, nor it is too dry. It’s just enough so that it won’t leave droplets on the surface you place them on. I also like it because unlike other cleansing wipes, this does not leave my skin dripping wet after I wipe it on. Thus, I don’t need to use a regular tissue or a towel to wipe off excess moisture.

This is how my arm looked like after I used the cleansing wipe to remove all the makeup. No extra moisture whatsoever. It looks like what my arm would usually look like. However, my skin does feel moisturized. I think this may have something to do with the Aloe Vera in the cleansing tissue. It does not sit on the surface of the skin, it immediately penetrates right after contact.

I only used one cleansing tissue to remove all the makeup swatches that I applied on my arm earlier, and all it took was a few swipes. I didn’t have to wipe that hard to remove everything, even the matte lipstick from Colourpop.

Aside from the small problem I have whenever I try to pull out a cleansing tissue, I really like this product and it has been handy for me. I’ve been bringing this everywhere I go, and I say that it is a good alternative whenever I’m too tired to wash my face. It’s gentle on the skin and I don’t need to wipe that hard to remove makeup. Also, I can smell the aloe vera on the product, which I really liked.

This also feels very refreshing when I use it to wipe off excess sweat after a workout–and it doesn’t leave a sticky feeling at all (some wipes leave a sticky feeling, honestly.)

For those who would prefer to bring their wipes in their purses or bags, unless if you bring a really big bag with you, this isn’t the cleansing wipe for you. However, I would highly suggest this as an at-home cleansing wipe–the one that sits perfectly somewhere in your vanity table or bathroom.

What’s In My Bag: My Go-To Beauty Essentials

IMG_8791

Hello everyone! I feel like it’s been a while since my last post. I usually update 2-3 times a week, but I wasn’t able to schedule new posts recently because I just spent a few days in Palawan last week without a laptop with me, thus I wasn’t able to write new content. Also, I’m trying to get my life back together by going to the gym more often (I only go once to twice a month before! Lol) and by enrolling in a foreign language class. All of these made me quite busy. But don’t you guys worry! I won’t give up on this blog just like how I gave up on the million other blogs that I had before this. I have a list of content that I’m planning to write during my free time. And I do have a lot of things to say and share in this blog. Stay tuned for that!

Anyway, let’s talk about my go-to beauty essentials. These are products which can be found in different pockets of my bag. I do have a specific pouch dedicated to my beauty essentials that I bring with me all the time, but there are just some items that I use more often thus I place them in pockets that are much more easier to access. The products in this post are all the beauty items that you can find in the bag that I carry every day.

Maybelline White SuperFresh Powder Foundation – To be honest, I only carry this around for the mirror. I used to apply this on my face on a daily basis, but I noticed that it gets cakey over time, especially on the area where the rim of my sun glasses sit, so I stopped using this daily. I still reserve this product for days when I need full makeup.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Protect Lotion (see full review here) – I find this product very useful especially on days when I do not have enough time to do a full morning skincare routine. I just massage this lotion on my face after washing and apply powder and I’m done! I do notice that even though I wasn’t able to follow both my morning and evening routines, as long as I use this sun lotion, my face looks brighter and clearer. Since using this on top of other skincare products makes my face tacky, I utilize the wonders of this cream by using it whenever I’m at home–or as I have said, whenever I don’t have enough time to do a full routine.

Lizard Lips Lip Balm – This lipbalm is actually something that I have in my bag all the time, but I only remember that it exists when I see it. This isn’t my main lip balm, but I do use it whenever I need a quick fix.

Etude House Big Cover Concealer Stick – This product is very effective in hiding unwanted spots on the face. Although I cannot say that it fully hides everything, it reduces the appearance of the spots until it’s unnoticeable. Also, this concealer is very easy to apply because of the stick form. It isn’t messy and it easily blends on the skin.

Celeteque Acne Solutions Acne-Clearing Concealer – I apply this on areas with acne before I put the Etude House Big Cover Concealer Stick. Because although I’m confident with this concealer’s healing properties, it does not give much coverage.

Celeteque Acne Solutions Acne Spot Corrector Gel – I actually started incorporating this gel in my daily routine, before I put on my cream. I simply apply this product on my acne and massage it through until it’s fully absorbed. This gel is great for acne emergencies because it can be brought everywhere without worrying that it might spill all over my bag, and it easily absorbs without leaving a shiny cast.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer – I don’t use this as much as I use the Etude House Big Cover Concealer Stick, but this product comes very handy whenever I need full face coverage–usually when I feel haggard and tired and my face looks dull. This somehow covers that dullness and the bags under my eyes efficiently.

Nivea Raspberry Rose Lip Butter (see full review here) – This is my go-to lip product! I apply this as often as whenever my lips feel dry. I simply cannot leave the apartment without this.

Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder – I just recently got this from my latest Althea Haul. I’m not really a fan of powder, I went through puberty without it. But this product somehow changed my view on powders! I apply this after I put my sunscreen in the morning and my face actually looks brighter and feels smoother after. I don’t really reapply this because there’s no need to, it lasts the whole day. But I just bring it with me in case some emergency happens.

If you guys can notice, the products that I bring with me every day are just concealers and other items geared towards protecting the skin and hiding imperfections. I’m not really a fan of doing everyday makeup, although I’m starting to put a small amount of blush on my cheeks every now and then just to add a bit of color. Also, I use some lip color from time to time especially when I feel like I look dead. But that’s just about it. I like to keep my face bare but flawless (which is quite impossible) thus the number of concealers and powders that I have with me. However, I’m starting to experiment with the makeup that I have hidden in my room so there’s a huge possibility that more cosmetics might be added to my daily makeup essentials. But as of the moment, I’m satisfied with the few products that I have in my bag.

What are your daily beauty essentials? Let me know!

XOXO,

Meesh ❤
