My Lip Care Routine (2018)

ADVANCED HAPPY VALENTINES DAY GUYS!

Today is February 13, 2018 in my country and I think posting something about lip care would totally be fitting for the coming event tomorrow. *wink* *wink*

Everybody’s been obsessing over their own skincare routines and posting them online, but I rarely do see any post or Youtube video about taking care of the lips. For someone like me who thought that I had perpetually dry and chapped lips, finding a solution to my lip problem is indeed a struggle. Over the past year, I have tried several lip products, because I was looking for the best lip balm, lip mask, and lip scrub for me, hoping that one day, I will be able to find the best set of lip products that will give me those plump, moisturized, and healthy lips I have always dreamed about.

It’s so difficult to be uncomfortable with your own lips and since I’m already into skincare, I also took the time and effort to do research on how to take care of the lips. And the products pictured above has helped me improve the condition of my lips.

Aritaum Ginger Sugar Lip Scrub – I use this product before I start my whole skincare routine, and especially when I have used a liptint or a lipstick. It really helps in removing the pigmentation without rubbing too hard, and at the same time it helps in removing the dead skin cells on the lips. I’m the type of girl who feels the need to swipe lip balm on my lips every two hours or so, and you know, if I don’t get rid of all that balm on my lips by the end of the day, it’s going to dry up and it’s going to feel really clogged up and next thing I know, my lips are already cracking. Thus, whenever I feel like I put too much product on my lips, I use this lip scrub before I brush my teeth and start with my skincare routine. (see full review here)

Lucas’ Papaw Ointment – I have heard of this ointment several times and a lot local celebrities here in the Philippines has this product, so when my friend from Nudie Organics (IG @nudieorganics) told me that they’re selling this, I immediately ordered two. It has been really helpful in healing my chapped lips. Although I have read that this is just an ointment and it should not be used as a lip balm or a moisturizer, I still incorporate this with my daily routine, especially before I apply my lip balm because it really did wonders on my dry lips and it has helped regain its normal texture. I apply this on my lips after I brush my teeth and reapply it at least twice a day.

Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Lip Balm – I picked this up at Robinsons Dumaguete when my lips felt really dry and I forgot to bring a lip balm with me. I immediately went to Watsons and purchased two lip balms (I wanted to buy everything, to be honest!) and one of them was this. Out of the two, this was the one I first used. I had mixed feelings with it at first because I love how this has a cooling effect on the lips, but I wasn’t a big fan of the scent… it reminds me of Vicks. But later on I got used to it and this became my go-to lip balm. I use this before my liptint in the morning. In the evening, I would usually apply this on my lips whenever I need to use a mud mask or a sheet mask, or whenever there’s a skincare step that needs some time before I proceed to the next step.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask – I totally, totally, totally love this lip mask, especially the scent! IT IS HEAVENLY. I have been using this for around 10 months already, I think. And it has helped me a lot inreganing the moisture of my lips. I would apply this before I get to bed.

I really didn’t plan this up nor did I do any research about lip care routines whatsoever, I just did what I think would be good for my lips and then I realized later on that it is actually a routine. And I wanted to share this to the internet if ever there are girls out there who struggles with dry or sore lips. I hope this post helped you and thanks for stopping by!

What’s In My Bag: My Go-To Beauty Essentials

IMG_8791

Hello everyone! I feel like it’s been a while since my last post. I usually update 2-3 times a week, but I wasn’t able to schedule new posts recently because I just spent a few days in Palawan last week without a laptop with me, thus I wasn’t able to write new content. Also, I’m trying to get my life back together by going to the gym more often (I only go once to twice a month before! Lol) and by enrolling in a foreign language class. All of these made me quite busy. But don’t you guys worry! I won’t give up on this blog just like how I gave up on the million other blogs that I had before this. I have a list of content that I’m planning to write during my free time. And I do have a lot of things to say and share in this blog. Stay tuned for that!

Anyway, let’s talk about my go-to beauty essentials. These are products which can be found in different pockets of my bag. I do have a specific pouch dedicated to my beauty essentials that I bring with me all the time, but there are just some items that I use more often thus I place them in pockets that are much more easier to access. The products in this post are all the beauty items that you can find in the bag that I carry every day.

Maybelline White SuperFresh Powder Foundation – To be honest, I only carry this around for the mirror. I used to apply this on my face on a daily basis, but I noticed that it gets cakey over time, especially on the area where the rim of my sun glasses sit, so I stopped using this daily. I still reserve this product for days when I need full makeup.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Protect Lotion (see full review here) – I find this product very useful especially on days when I do not have enough time to do a full morning skincare routine. I just massage this lotion on my face after washing and apply powder and I’m done! I do notice that even though I wasn’t able to follow both my morning and evening routines, as long as I use this sun lotion, my face looks brighter and clearer. Since using this on top of other skincare products makes my face tacky, I utilize the wonders of this cream by using it whenever I’m at home–or as I have said, whenever I don’t have enough time to do a full routine.

Lizard Lips Lip Balm – This lipbalm is actually something that I have in my bag all the time, but I only remember that it exists when I see it. This isn’t my main lip balm, but I do use it whenever I need a quick fix.

Etude House Big Cover Concealer Stick – This product is very effective in hiding unwanted spots on the face. Although I cannot say that it fully hides everything, it reduces the appearance of the spots until it’s unnoticeable. Also, this concealer is very easy to apply because of the stick form. It isn’t messy and it easily blends on the skin.

Celeteque Acne Solutions Acne-Clearing Concealer – I apply this on areas with acne before I put the Etude House Big Cover Concealer Stick. Because although I’m confident with this concealer’s healing properties, it does not give much coverage.

Celeteque Acne Solutions Acne Spot Corrector Gel – I actually started incorporating this gel in my daily routine, before I put on my cream. I simply apply this product on my acne and massage it through until it’s fully absorbed. This gel is great for acne emergencies because it can be brought everywhere without worrying that it might spill all over my bag, and it easily absorbs without leaving a shiny cast.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer – I don’t use this as much as I use the Etude House Big Cover Concealer Stick, but this product comes very handy whenever I need full face coverage–usually when I feel haggard and tired and my face looks dull. This somehow covers that dullness and the bags under my eyes efficiently.

Nivea Raspberry Rose Lip Butter (see full review here) – This is my go-to lip product! I apply this as often as whenever my lips feel dry. I simply cannot leave the apartment without this.

Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder – I just recently got this from my latest Althea Haul. I’m not really a fan of powder, I went through puberty without it. But this product somehow changed my view on powders! I apply this after I put my sunscreen in the morning and my face actually looks brighter and feels smoother after. I don’t really reapply this because there’s no need to, it lasts the whole day. But I just bring it with me in case some emergency happens.

If you guys can notice, the products that I bring with me every day are just concealers and other items geared towards protecting the skin and hiding imperfections. I’m not really a fan of doing everyday makeup, although I’m starting to put a small amount of blush on my cheeks every now and then just to add a bit of color. Also, I use some lip color from time to time especially when I feel like I look dead. But that’s just about it. I like to keep my face bare but flawless (which is quite impossible) thus the number of concealers and powders that I have with me. However, I’m starting to experiment with the makeup that I have hidden in my room so there’s a huge possibility that more cosmetics might be added to my daily makeup essentials. But as of the moment, I’m satisfied with the few products that I have in my bag.

What are your daily beauty essentials? Let me know!

XOXO,

Meesh ❤
